I was wondering how many guys used to wear swimming trunks under their sports shorts? Maybe still do.
We used to wear them as a substitute for a jock strap and I know the good feeling of comfort which they give. On the other hand many guys say they have never heard of this. Today many shorts have built in briefs so in theory no other underwear is needed.
It's a real fascination of mine and if there are guys out there who want to exchange experiences I'm ready and waiting! |

It was common to wear swimming trunks under our shorts at school for all sports. I think boys who played rugby on the school team wore a jockstrap, but everone else just used the trunks.
They were black, thin, and very cheap. So cheap that nobody washed them. After a game, or a run, or whatever, we just tossed them in the bin, and wore a new pair the next time. Our socks went in the bin too, but that's another story. |

| At school I use to wear swim trunks under shorts for PE or cross country as the white shorts we had were too short to get away with wearing just the shorts and were totally transparant when wet. Most of my mates did as well. Getting totally soaked through in white singlet, white shorts and black trunk not only looked great but felt nice too with the wet shorts rubbing against a hard-on. I always wore Adidas trunks as they felt so silky againt the skin and I wore them looser so that my bulge was more noticeable and could feel everything moving around more. |

| I got interested in PE kits at school when I noticed that you could see other boys' underwear through their white shorts. I found it fascinating to try and detect whether they were wearing swimming trunks instead. This was when shorts were short (not the baggy ones you mainly get nowadays) and in our school at that time they were made of a polyester/cotton mix, which was thinner than cotton but not as thin as nylon. The entire PE/athletics kit was white. Coloured pants were easily visible under white shorts. Some boys - mainly the more sporty types - wore swimming trunks underneath, which I found (and still find) very enjoyable both to watch and to wear. |

| I do own a few pairs of swimming trunks worn purely as underwear. I started wearing them at secondary school because the shorts were and very transparent! My interest developed from worrying that my underwear would be visible to actively enjoying seeing the others in their shorts and trying to identify their underwear choices. When I was at college I did a bit of jogging from time to time to keep fit, and I always felt very naughty running with skimpy speedos on under my shorts. They were dark blue shorts, so only I knew what was under them. |

At school the uniform was really strict and we all had the stiffest red plastic shorts you ever saw, they just stuck out and really rough.
We weren't really allowed to wear anything under them but then our balls started to drop and we got the idea that when your doing bench presses guys are checkin out your heavy pink sack and in a muddy rugby tackle, when their hands just slide up your thighs, they end up where you don't want every lad going (seriously, some hands you don't want there).
At same time some of us got into teams and were with the older lads and they all wore summat under their shorts, mainly the school uniform tiny black speedos. I remember loads of guys diff bulges in speedos that looked massive to me then compared to what i was packing.
That was cool but best was end of term swim club when we did it in the nuddy so no kit no shorts no speedos n that was def best - for all of of us, for sure, lol _________________ 5' 11" dark hair gr eyes fit climber

At my school in the UK in the 1980s there wasn't any rule about underwear under PE shorts. Our shorts were white nylon and see-through, even when they were dry, and many wore speedos under their shorts during PE, athletics and cross country. This was a time when briefs were generally worn, and boys wore speedos as a more fashionable alternative to a jock strap.
When boxers first came into fashion they would often show below the hem of the shorts, as shorts were much shorter in those days, so once again speedos were worn. They also gave better support than boxers, and also it also did not matter if they got wet.
I agree with the earlier poster that getting totally soaked through in full white PE kit with swimming trunks underneath not only looks great but feels nice too with the wet shorts clinging to bulging speedos.
Yesterday I saw some boys doing a cross-country run in a local park. They wore the modern, baggy shadow-stripe shorts, but they definitely appeared to be wearing dark coloured swimming trunks underneath, so the tradition lives on. A pity that it was not raining at the time though. |
